Everyone knows it’s easy to get carried away and spend more money than anticipated. Especially when it comes to making your vacation rental more appealing to your guests. New decor, light renovations, and replacing commonly used items when they start to wear can all add up. Here are a few of my favorite cheap and easy ways to spruce up your rental and give it a little extra sparkle!
Replace Old Toilet Seats
This is #1 (and #2) on my list! I know this doesn’t sound like fun but it only takes a few minutes and a few dollars and it’s an easy alternative to replacing an old toilet. This will make a huge impact on the overall cleanliness of the bathroom in the eyes of your guests.
Replace Worn Kitchen Items
From old and rusty coffee makers to that ugly spatula that’s melted around the edges and the stained oven mitt. These items in your rentals’ kitchen tell a story. You don’t want it to be one narrating the tale of a hundred haunting meals left behind! Replace your Airbnb kitchen items earlier and more often.
Small kitchen appliances like toasters and coffee makers are found in most stores and are cheap and easy to replace. New kitchen towels, pot holders and oven mitts are well worth the few dollars they cost!
Get New Remotes
If you have remotes that are replaceable, it’s sanitary to do so. They are one of the most touched items in a rental and tend to get sandy, gunky and broken more often as a result.
If you have a cable company’s remote they will usually replace them for free anyway. And if you can’t get a new one, insist that your cleaner please wipe them down. Add this to your Turno Cleaning Checklist so your cleaner will remember. A nice looking remote makes people feel like your rental is well looked after.
Replace Pillows and Curtains
This decor can make a huge impact on the overall “vibe” of your rental. You wouldn’t want stained or ugly curtains and pillows to interfere with the perception of a happy, clean rental! Homegoods, Target, and Amazon all have awesome and affordable options that will speak to any style you want.
Get New Towels
Towels are very personal to your guests. When your towels, hand towels, and washcloths feel and look good, your guests will feel good too! There is no need to spend a lot of money on these as they can always be found on sale (at the same retailers mentioned).
Buying towels in bulk makes it cheap and easy to save. Make sure they are soft but watch out for super thick towels (which are more expensive anyway). The thicker the towels, the longer they take to dry, and the harder it is on your cleaner in a time crunch!
The takeaway here is that lots of little things add up! If you take a little bit of time and money you can go a long way in making your guests feel more comfortable and relaxed. They will also be in a better mood to write you a wonderful review!
