We’ve all been there, contemplating which Airbnb to book and you just can’t decide. People will almost always go for the most visually appealing spaces hosts offer to their guests. Here are some easy ways to boost your bookings with simple aesthetic improvements, without hiring an interior designer.

Keep with the theme of your place

This is a simple rule of thumb for any vacation rental. Sometimes it’s easier for you than others to incorporate a theme into your Airbnb. This does not necessarily mean that you have to carry a beach theme throughout your beach condo. However definitely make sure that you are at least carrying the same theme throughout a room.

Plants

Having a little greenery in a space is never a bad thing! A really inexpensive way to warm up a space is with plants, but it’s important to make sure that either you, or your vacation rental cleaner is taking time to water or care for your greenery. This is something that you can include on a checklist for your cleaner if you are not doing it yourself. Choose easy to care for plants that requires minimal maintenance and  fit them with the theme of your place.

Wall Art

Get creative! You can repurpose a lot of items lying around or you can find some great steals at thrift stores on a relatively small budget. For example, I’ve seen some great coat racks made from old skis, or wall art made from record albums. Get on Pinterest and go crazy, but again, keep your theme in mind. If you are looking for a minimalist look, grabbing some blank canvas from your local craft store and a little paint easily make a simple wall hanging to match the decor of your place. Just a side note, make sure that you are regularly cleaning any wall art, or keep the appropriate cleaning supplies available for your vacation rental cleaner and make sure they know how to clean what you have on the wall.

Window Treatments

This is one that is often overlooked, but can make a dramatic appearance in the look of your vacation rental. When considering what window treatments to use, decided whether or not you are using them mainly for aesthetics or functionality. Then decide on what treatments you will use. For example, think about a bedroom where children might often be sleeping – do you really want to keep blinds that would be easily ruined when curtains may be a better option? Bamboo or canvas blinds are an alternative that many people use in minimalist environments that create nice finishing touches.

Floor Coverings

Be careful with this one. Consider the practical side of what you are putting on your floor. Some Airbnbs undergo some wear and tear with occupancy. If you are in a rural setting surrounded by dirt or snow, think about how light colors will look over time. Definitely consider the placement of rugs or mats. While burlap is durable and looks cool in a patio area, they aren’t always pleasant to relax on in a living room.

Accessorizing your Airbnb not only makes it more attractive in photos, it makes it more comfortable and appealing to your guests. Make sure you let your vacation rental cleaner know what and how to clean these items as well, and watch your bookings increase!
