In our previous blog, we overviewed our latest findings for vacation rental cleaning costs for one-bedroom properties. This time, we’re going to look at findings for two-bedroom properties. If the Airbnb properties you clean suit families and guests, this information will likely apply to you. Now, let’s look at the infographic.

Two-Bedroom Cleaning Costs Infographic

As per usual, the infographic contains three main sections. These sections include: National Average, Top & Bottom 3, and Historical Average. The information shown on the graph was collected from thousands of Airbnb cleaning projects completed on the Turno platform. Please note the key on the side of the infographic which will help you obtain a better understanding of the figures presented on the infographic.

National Average

As shown on the infographic, the average cost for cleaning a two-bedroom property in the United States is $69.82. This cost saw an increase of two percent from the previous quarter. Also, we find that the cost of cleaning a two-bedroom property is approximately eighteen dollars more than cleaning a one-bedroom property. Keep these figures in mind as you create listings on cleaning websites. Staying on top of the latest information in cleaning costs can help your business survive in this competitive industry.

Top & Bottom 3

Now, let’s discuss some of the outliers throughout the nation. In this case, we will look at the three most expensive, and least expensive, states for vacation rental cleaning. Let’s start with the most expensive states:

  1. 1. New Jersey – $131.45
  2. 2. Hawaii – $120.24
  3. 3. California – $89.39

As shown on the infographic, the three most expensive states for vacation rental cleaning are New Jersey, Hawaii, and California. It is normal to find that the states with higher cost-of-living have higher cost-of-cleaning. If you reside in these states, be sure that you are charging your vacation rental hosts a fair amount. Now, let’s look at the states with the lowest cost of vacation rental cleaning.

  1. 1. Idaho – $46.60
  2. 2. New Mexico – $51.20
  3. 3. Oklahoma – $51.33

These states typically have a low cost-of-living relative to the more expensive states. In addition to this, these states may have a lower demand for travel and vacation rentals compared to other states.

Historical Average

The third and final section of the infographic deals with the historical average cost of vacation rental cleaning. The blue line on the graph represents the cost of cleaning two-bedroom properties throughout the United States. As you can see, the line remains relatively level as the year progresses. Though the line does not make any major changes, we should note that it saw a gradual increase throughout the year. Keeping track of changes in cost is one way that your cleaning business can remain successful.
